Weekend Adventures

Ah Columbia, thank you for having the most wonderful shopping center so close to my new home.  Saturday was devoted to exploring my surroundings and I found a WONDERFUL shopping center, it has everything you could possibly need. To make things even better, there is a Piggly Wiggly on the way :)

My first encounter with the Piggly Wiggly was my between my junior and senior year of high school. I went on vacation as a nanny to the Wild Dunes and there was a Piggly Wiggly close to the house we were renting. Previous to this I had only heard of Piggly Wiggly, but I was so excited to go inside and ever since then its been love. You can imagine my excitement to find out that the closest grocery store to my apartment is a Piggly Wiggly. I will be using it for all my grocery needs for the next two years :)

As for the shopping center, it is called Village at Sandhill. It reminds me a lot of Brier Creek with the amount of stores and restaurants but I feel it is set up better: it is a lot easier to park and walk around to all of the stores.

Also like Brier Creek, Village at Sandhill has Which Wich. If you have never eaten here you must google the closest one to you, drive over there and enjoy the best sandwich of your life, which of course was the first thing I did.

Afterwards I went shopping for the rest of the afternoon, found some great deals at Old Navy and some books for my sister's birthday. Overall a successful first day out in Columbia.

The Haul

The rest of the weekend was devoted to my baby sister's birthday. I surprised her at her birthday party and she was thrilled! They swam at the pool, had Brixx Pizza for dinner and Ben and Jerry's for dessert. Needless to say I could not stay out of North Carolina for long, it was nice to see this sign.

Welcome home Ginger, we missed you!

Bonus about going to my parent's house was that my parents had gone to Colonial Williamsburg at the end of July and brought me back delicious Ginger Ale and a magnet of the King's Arm Tavern.

A super great weekend in SC/NC overall and a great way to relax before school starts. I will post tomorrow about my awesome genetic counseling class and all of our orientations. Plus we are planning on running around USC main campus and getting lost, which is going to be blog worthy for sure.

p.s. Facebook informed me that on August 13th, 2007 Jared and I became Facebook friends and we started dating 2 months later <3
