March Madness Day 12: March Birchbox

This is by far the best box I have ever received! I am so excited about all of the products inside :)

March Madness as a theme!! How perfect!
What's Inside

Madwell for Birchbox
Madwell for Birchbox: Emory Board: How cute is this nail file?! And its full size!

Whish: Shave Crave Shaving Cream: Organic foam free shaving cream. It is not an aerosol, but it is already in shave cream form....if that makes sense. Also, it smells AMAZING, like blueberries!

Nick Chavez Beverly Hills: Color-Saver Sulfate-Free Shampoo:
HUGE sample and it smells like citrus. I cannot get enough of shampoo samples

Make: Eyeshadow and Face Primer: This is the best part of the box, not only do you get a great face primer sample but you also get an eyeshadow in a beautiful matte grey!

If you could not tell already, I am obsessed with this box, I cannot wait to try everything out!

March Madness Day 5: February Birchbox

Since my March Birchbox will be arriving soon, I thought I would be a good idea to review my February box...a little late I know!

Here is what's inside:

TIGI Catwalk Dry Shampoo: I cannot contain my excitement about this sample. First of all, can you see how big it is?! I am obsessed with dry shampoo and to get a large sample of a high end brand is even better! It works amazing!

Vasanti: Brighten up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvinator: Another HUGE sample, this box is making me very happy. I have not used it yet, I am in the process of working through my other Birchbox samples but I am excited to try it

Jouer: Matte Moisture Tint:  This is essentially a BB cream. I enjoy the matte finish, I am not a huge fan of dewy finishes but I think it is a bit yellow for my skin. It glides on nicely and is moisturizing.

Juicy Couture: Couture La La Perfume: Pissed. I.HATE.JUICY.PERFUME.

Ghirardelli : Caramel Chocolate Square: This delicious chocolate almost made up for the fact that there was another Juicy perfume

Besides the stupid perfume, I really love this box. The products are all things that I will use and the samples were a great value for the cost of the box.

January Birchbox!

Hello, long time no blog!

January has consisted of thesis background writing and crafting and of course lots and lots and lots of shopping. What can I say....stress makes me spend money!

Of course I also received my January Birchbox...here is what's inside!

Here it is!
Skinny Chic Fragrance: It smells OK, it has a lot of citrus tones that I usually love, but there is something that I cannot place that is not my favorite.

Fresh: Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream: I am still working through "Gorgeous"face cream by Lush so I have not had tried it yet, but a full size costs $42 ...so I am hoping it is nice

alessandro Nail Polish in Blue Lagoon: I am always happy when I get nail polish, and its a beautiful blue!

the Balm: Put a Lid On It:  This is my favorite product I have ever gotten in a Birchbox! I love the Balm and even more I LOVE this eyeshadow primer. It is amazing and it keeps my shadows on all day! Super huge fan!

Ojon: Damage Reverse Instant restorative Hair Serum:  At first I thought this was perfume and I was going to be pissed. I have never used oil on my hair, so I was a bit nervous to try it. I concentrated it on my ends and it really cut down my frizz which I love. My ends are pretty fried from all of the flat ironing that I do so I am not sure if this oil will be able to save it but I am enjoying it thus far.

Overall I am pleased with this box. I am enjoying little beauty gifts every month...it is something to look forward too.

Blogmas Day 18: December Birchbox

So, I have had this box for over a week now, but I finally had the chance to blog about it.

Striped like a present!

Content Card
Number 4: Lumiere d'hiver Clarifying Shampoo: This is a pretty decent size shampoo sample, and its clarifying which is awesome....except it is low sud...excuse me? No suds? You have to be kidding me? I know I know...suds strip the natural oil from you hair (blah blah blah) but seriously, I needs suds in order for my hair to feel clean. Plain and simple.

Juicy Couture: If I get one more Juicy perfume sample....

Mox Botanicals- Pomegranate and Fig Lip Butter: It smells really good, but the consistency is almost like wax and I have to spin my finger around about 100 times to get enough product on my finger.

Tweezerman Nail File: Can never have too many of these!

The Balm-Hot Mama Blush: I am the most excited about this! It is a nice pinky peach that goes with any skin tone and the packaging is too cute! It is the perfect size for travel and it has a magnetic closure.

Overall I am pretty disappointed... especially since this is the holiday box. I was hoping for a festive nail polish or something holiday limited addition.  Oh well.....

What did you get in your box this month?

November Birchbox

As promised, here is my newest birchbox!

This birchbox had the theme of 'Give' which included a little purple box that you could use to give some of your favorite products to your friends...and since we are all friends of birchbox, they gave us some gifts inside of it!

Box Contents!

Surprise gifts inside the "give" box

Here is the skinny:

1. Model Co. Lipgloss in Striptease
This is a very sparkly gloss that came in full size with a mirror on the side. The color is a light pink but when I put it on my lips it did not add very much color, just made it sparkle and shine.
The gloss is not too sticky which is nice, but the staying power is not the best.

Sparkle Sparkle!
2. Oscasr Blandi Texture and Volume Spray
This product comes out like a dry shampoo or hairspray and adds volume to second day hair. I have a lot of volume to begin with, but I do flat iron my hair, so for day two hair it does add some life back into my hair. I still need to use a dry shampoo to cut out the grease but it makes styling my hair much easier and adds back some of my natural volume.

3. per-fekt Brow Perfection Gel
This came inside the "give" box and inside this miniature tube is a mascara wand with colored gel to help fill in and tame your eyebrows. I comes in four shades: nude, champagne, caramel and espresso. I was given the caramel color. I don't normally use any products on my brows but I figured I would give it a try. I feel like the color is a little too dark for me, the champagne might be a better fit given my blonde hair. Since I don't fill in my eyebrows normally, it was a bit of an adjustment for me, but I did not think it looked bad, just different. My one complaint is that it has simmer in it, so my eyebrows essentially glisten with tiny flecks of glitter. I am not sure if I really want people paying that much attention to my eyebrows.

4. Miss Me Perfume
Once again there is another perfume sample (groan). This one was not a favorite for me. It smells like baby powder...and considering that it is expensive, I would like it to not smell like something that costs 99 cents.

5. ChocoPod: Firecracker
Bonus in this box was chocolate! This is seriously the most delicious and fun piece of chocolate to eat. I am seriously considering buying the set. The flavor that I received was firecracker; Sultry sea salt, smokey chipotle and popping candy exploding in dark chocolate. It could taste everything that was described and the popping candy adds another element to it. Love love loved it.

That is what I received in my box this month....what about you?

Birchbox

I finally joined the cult that is Birchbox, and I am so happy that I did. This is going to be a review of the three boxes that I have received so far and then I will review the rest of them individually each month.

For those of you who don't know much about Birchbox, it is a monthly service that costs $10 a month. Each month they send you between 4-5 deluxe size beauty samples in a box for you to try new products.

I received my first box in August after being on the wait list for 2 months!

August 2012:
The box was themed with Back to School which means it came with an extra surprise which was a Shick Hydrosilk razor.

August 2012
I really liked my first box. In addition to the razor, it had a Viva la Juicy perfume (smells wonderful!),  Yu-Be moisture cream (still need to try), Eye Rock stick on eye liner, and "Stainiac" from The Balm.

Describtion Card

I have not tried these eyeliner stickers yet but they look very interesting  They have a bit of a strange texture, but I think I might use them for a costume or stage before wearing them out on the town.

The cheek stain from The Balm is amazing! It is a gel cheek stain which is a little weird at first, but once you get used to using it, it creates a really nice rosy effect...and because it is a gel, it lasts all day or night.

September 2012:

This box did not have a theme that I can remember. It did come with a Fall look book, but no special collaboration.

September 2012

Once again I was pleased with this box, although I have not tried much from this box. The nail color is an original color from Color Club called "Insta-This". Each of the colors are named after various social media. It is a pretty royal blue color.

I also received a shampoo/conditioner sample and volumizing spray from Liqwd. I have not tried the shampoo and conditioner but I have tried the volumizer. I am not sure how I feel about it, because I already have a lot of volume in my hair, but it was not heavy or sticky which I liked.

I also received Dr Jart++ BB Cream, which is actually an Asian BB Cream. I wore this on my anniversary dinner and it felt very lightweight. The only problem I have with it is that it is a little dark from my skin tone, but considering that I am as white as snow, it is not a surprise.

There was also a perfume sample in here but as soon as I smelled it, I instantly thought it would be something that my mom would wear....not that that is a bad thing, but I thought she would appreciate it more than I would.

Last in this box was a twistband which is a new hair tie. The goal of this hair tie is that it does not leave a crease in your hair after you have had it up for a while, which means you can more easily go from an up look to a down look without damaging the look of your hair. It came in an adorable lace blue color too :) I have not worn it (theme of this box) but I am planning on it very soon.

October 2012:

The last box I have to share is the October box which was with collaboration with goop. I am not sure who goop is, but I liked what they did with this box.

Essie: "Carry On"
My favorite part of this box is of course the Essie nail polish. The color is a dark burgundy wine color. On the nails it looks very dark, but when it hits the light you can really see the wine in it. Not only do I love the color, but I also love the fact that it is a full size polish!

Next favorite is the Luna bar. I love Luna bars already, so having one in my birchbox = awesome.

There is a lip balm, which is more of a chapstick consistency which gives a pearly pink shine on the lips.

The last two items are a body oil and a moisturizer. I have not used these yet, but I am looking forward to using them especially since winter is right around the corner.

There are my boxes full of goodies! If you are interested in birchbox, please visit my link and sign up!
